Two discoveries…1) You CAN use cornmeal to fry chicken! The crispy crunch it provides is phenomenal! and it holds up to all manner of drizzles, sauces, etc.! Which leads us to discovery 2) – You can use store-bought BBQ sauce to drizzle over fried chicken with no shame… NOT! LIES! If you must do this, have the decency to jazz it up a little! The following additional ingredients will add flavor to any boring BBQ concoction:

  • 1/4 cup (2.0oz) of finely chopped onion;
  • 1/4 cup (2.0oz) of hot sauce of your choice. Mine is good old Tabasco;
  • 1/4 cup (2.0oz) of highest-quality honey;
  • 1/4 cup of spirit of your choice. For the purposes of this experiment, I used Johnnie Walker Red, for its naturally smoky qualities.

And, last but NOT least…Flambe everything! (NOTE: You do NOT have to flambe everything. It’s just fun, that’s all…
